The hashtag #Indigenousdads has been trending on Twitter over the weekend, in response to a racist cartoon published in the Australian last week.

The cartoon, by Bill Leak, showed a police officer holding an Aboriginal child, telling the child’s father to teach him about personal responsibility. The father’s response was “Yeah righto, what’s his name then?”

In response, hundreds of First Nation’s people – including prominent Indigenous Australians – have been posting photos of their fathers.

The movement was started last week with South Australian youth justice worker Joel Bayliss, who spoke to ABC Radio National.
